Meet Melissa – Acclaimed Soprano, Performer, and Voice Teacher
Melissa is a soprano celebrated for her musical sensitivity, vocal virtuosity, and engaging stage presence. She holds both her Master of Music and Bachelor of Music degrees from the Manhattan School of Music, where she studied under the renowned Joan Caplan.
As a performer, Melissa has earned recognition from Opera News for her “beautiful upper extension” in her role as Najade in Strauss’ Ariadne auf Naxos at Merkin Hall. She has been featured as a soloist at the U.S. Capitol Rotunda and the Library of Congress, performing the National Anthem for a televised ceremony honoring the Tuskegee Airmen with the Congressional Gold Medal. Melissa has also appeared with One World Symphony, Opera Noire of New York, the Hudson Lyric Opera Company, and The Bronx Opera Company. Internationally, she has studied and performed in Italy with the Centro Studi Italiani Young Artist Program and trained with the Intermezzo Young Artist Program.
Her operatic and concert repertoire includes roles such as The Mother in Amahl and the Night Visitors and Despina in Cosi fan Tutte, among many others.
As a teacher with over 17 years of experience, Melissa is passionate about guiding students to find their authentic voice and grow in confidence. She works with singers of all ages and levels, creating a supportive and inspiring environment where each student feels encouraged to reach their goals—whether that’s building technique, preparing for auditions, or simply discovering the joy of singing.
