A South Korean Bass-Baritone, Simon is currently in his third year of DMA at UNCG. Mr. Nam completed his Masters of Music from Mannes School of Music and also earned his bachelor's degree from Oberlin Conservatory of Music.
Mr. Nam has performed in numerous operas both in the United States and Europe. Some former operatic roles include Figaro in Le nozze di Figaro, Leporello in Don Giovanni, Betto in Gianni Schicchi, Colline in La Bohème and many more. Most recently, Mr. Nam made his debut with the Greensboro Opera in the production of The Gift of the Magi.
As a voice teacher, Mr. Nam focuses on the harmonious relationship between healthy vocal technique and individualistic artistry; he strongly believes that one cannot exist without the other and it is crucial to work on both simultaneously. He also believes that a student can work on their instrument most efficiently when they feel comfortable and safe in their lessons. Mr. Nam has been teaching voice for many years and some of his past students have been accepted into Oberlin Conservatory, Berklee College of Music, Mannes School of Music and more.
