Private Lessons with Julian T.
Julian T.

Hi, I’m Julian! I’ve been playing piano since I was 7 years old, and by age 12 I had fallen in love with jazz and improvisation. Since then, music has become a huge part of my life, from performing and composing to helping students discover what they can do at the piano.
I have a strong background in both jazz and classical music, as well as music theory, ear training, improvisation, and composition. I began composing my own music at 16 and have written works in a variety of styles and instrumentations. I also earned a Certificate in Core Musical Skills from The Juilliard School Extension Division to further develop my skills as a composer and musician.
As a teacher, I’ve worked with students of all ages, from young children to adults and seniors. I don’t believe every student should be taught exactly the same way. I like getting to know what each student enjoys, what they want to accomplish, and what keeps them excited about music. From there, I build lessons around their individual goals and interests.
Sometimes I even write original exercises or pieces specifically for a student when I think it will help them learn a concept or develop a particular skill.
I especially enjoy working with students who are interested in jazz, improvisation, songwriting, composition, or learning how music actually works. At the same time, I’m equally comfortable guiding students through a more traditional classical piano education.
For me, teaching music is personal. Great teachers had a tremendous impact on me growing up, and I want to give my students that same experience. Music teaches patience, discipline, creativity, curiosity, and confidence, and it is incredibly rewarding to watch those qualities develop in a student over time.
Whether your child is just beginning piano, wants to explore jazz and improvisation, loves creating their own music, or simply wants to become a stronger musician, I look forward to helping them grow and enjoy the process along the way.
